Carved Blue Vase with Black Rim 11″

Hand thrown and hand carved, this shouldered vase stands 11 inches tall and 7 inches across at its widest point. Bands of chattered facets wrap the neck and foot, each mark cut freehand while the clay was still leather hard. The slate blue finish is hand applied in layers with darker tone settling into the arcing so every facet reads a little differently as the light moves. The collar is finished in matte black.

The interior is glazed and holds water, so it works for fresh arrangements as well as dried flowers. Because the carving and finish are done by hand, no two pieces are alike variation in mark and tone is part of the work.
