Care for your Jewelry

Horsehair is a very durable material. Your keepsake was made with love and with proper care, it can last for years. 

Resin Keepsakes- 

  • Your  jewelry is not waterproof. Avoid swimming or bathing while wearing your keepsake.
  • Wearing your jewelry next to other hard jewelry can increase the risk of scratching.
  • Tarnish in sterling silver is inevitable, wearing your jewelry can prevent tarnish. Harsh chemicals and sweat can increase the rate of tarnish.
  • Apply lotions and perfumes before putting on your jewelry
  • When not being worn, keep your keepsake in the provided bag with the air squeezed out of it.

Braided Keepsakes- 

  • If a hair becomes loose and frays, cut it. Do Not Pull It! Wearing your keepsakes next to other hard jewelry can increase the risk of fraying or scratching.
  • Tarnish in sterling silver is inevitable, wearing your jewelry can prevent tarnish. Harsh chemicals and sweat can increase the rate of tarnish. Avoid swimming and bathing  while wearing your keepsake.
  • Apply lotions and perfumes before putting on your jewelry.
  • If you need to clean the hair in braided horsehair jewelry, use and extra soft tooth brush and a mild soap to gently scrub away dirt. Pat dry with a soft microfiber cloth and polish with the polishing cloth.
  • When not being worn, keep your keepsake in the provided bag with the air squeezed out of it.

If Your Keepsake Is Plated: 

  • Eventually the plating may be worn away revealing the base layer. Usually this takes a long time.
